Wedderburn's images instead reveal community resilience, friendship, style and everyday life at shops, hairdressers and cafes. His archive of over 1,500 images was discovered decades later when he was a retired mental health nurse. The photographs were exhibited at the Loading Bay gallery and National Science and Media Museum as part of Bradford's year as UK City of Culture.

Irish traditional musician Dónal Lunny has died aged 79 after battling cancer. He died at St James's Hospital in Dublin on Friday morning. The Worcester to Hereford railway line will close from 26 to 30 October during half-term for extensive upgrades to track, drainage and signalling. However, the family's attorney Ben Crump disputes this, saying footage shows the fatal shot came from the side of the car and calling for a federal investigation. Wales will host the 2027 FIM International Six Days' Enduro from 13–18 September at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells. Carl Rundle, 42, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 20 years for murdering his 64-year-old mother Helen Rundle at their home in Harwell, Oxfordshire on 27 January. Judge Ian Pringle KC said Helen Rundle was 'increasingly frightened' by her son's behaviour in the months before her death. The judge noted that Rundle had asked to stay at his mother's home whilst recovering from alcohol and drug addiction, and that his mother had agreed to let him remain even after he filmed her in an altercation with her partner, Mark Conway, in January 2025, which resulted in her arrest.

A Baltimore County mother reported that a man living in a sewer system near her home in the Lutherville-Timonium area was harassing and chasing her children. After her daughter called panicked one Friday, Unique Wiggins investigated and heard someone singing in the sewer. The man was arrested for trespassing on 13 October and released on his own recognizance. He was initially served with an interim peace order, which was reissued as temporary the following day.

Nicolas Raskin has dismissed speculation about leaving Rangers, saying he is 'really happy' at the club and has no desire to push for a move. Police in Ponchatoula arrested 31-year-old Brooke Harter and 27-year-old Dominick Cenni following the death of a two-year-old on 24 August. An autopsy determined the child died from the toxic effects of Kratom, a plant-derived substance. Cenni turned himself in on 22 October and was charged with negligent homicide, cruelty to juveniles, criminal abandonment and obstruction of justice, and is being held on a $150,000 bond for negligent homicide. Harter turned herself in on 23 October and was charged with negligent homicide, cruelty to juveniles and criminal abandonment.

Four Phi Delta Theta pledges at Texas State University were arrested on misdemeanor hazing charges after an 18-year-old active fraternity member was allegedly forced into a pickup truck. According to police, the incident occurred in San Marcos on Tuesday when officers responded to calls about men forcing another man into the truck. The pledges told officers the incident was part of a fraternity initiation tradition. If convicted of the Class B misdemeanor, the pledges could face fines up to $2,000 and/or up to 180 days in jail.

Five men have pleaded not guilty to charges following an incident in which a funeral hearse was driven onto the pitch at Dunston Football Club during a match in July 2023. A Derbyshire teenager has received a suspended jail sentence after throwing a knife over a garden wall just before a police search. The judge told the teenager to work with probation, warning that failure to do so would result in imprisonment.

Two men have been arrested and suspected explosive materials seized as part of a counter-terrorism operation in Co Louth. The PSNI described the seizure as 'significant'.

Basingstoke Magistrates' Court gave him a 12-month suspended sentence, 200 hours of unpaid work and a 40-month driving ban. In a separate case, Seyram Kutsienyo, 45, from Andover was fined £925 and banned for three years after driving a BMW X3 on 31 August with 66 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

Anne Egglestone, 63, has been handed a Criminal Behaviour Order lasting three years after assaulting a neighbour, damaging a mobile phone and attacking police officers at her Spinney Close home in Thorpe St Andrew, Norwich. She pleaded guilty to assaulting four constables, failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice, obstructing a constable, common assault and criminal damage. She was given an 18-week suspended prison sentence and ordered to pay £350 compensation plus costs.

Costa Coffee will move its global and UK headquarters to St Albans from January 1, 2027. The café chain's new office will serve as a central support centre for teams across the business. South Dakota residents could drop off unused or expired prescription drugs on Saturday as part of the DEA's 31st National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. A Fargo police officer arrested a driver clocked at 116 mph in a 40 mph zone on County Road 81 north of 40th Avenue North early Tuesday. The driver told police he was late for work. The stop occurred in an area where the department has received numerous complaints about speeding.

Multiple traffic incidents have disrupted roads across Sussex. A van overturned on the A23 between Hickstead and Muddleswood, with debris from a fallen tree blocking the route, according to The Argus. The Sussex Express reports that a section of the A23 in Mid Sussex was blocked following a crash involving a car and a van on Saturday 24 October, though it has since reopened. Separate incidents include a two-vehicle collision on the A26 between Uckfield and Crowborough on Friday 23 October, a two-car crash partially blocking a street in central Brighton, and traffic queuing on the A283 Shoreham Road following a crash. Roadworks on the A22 in East Sussex have also caused queueing traffic.

Two separate incidents have closed parts of the A47 near Norwich. Both closures come as Storm Boelo brings winds of up to 50mph to the area, causing travel disruption and power outages.

A female police officer was assaulted by a man she tried to help in Arbor Close, off Abbey Street, Derby, on Thursday at 14:45. The officer had come across the man lying apparently unconscious whilst in the area on another matter. When she attempted to assist him, he became violent and attacked her. Members of the public helped detain the suspect until other officers arrived; he remains in police custody. The officer was hospitalised but has been discharged. Derbyshire Police are appealing to trace the men who helped restrain the suspect.

The A34 closed in both directions between Sutton Scotney and Bullington Cross on Friday, October 21, after a serious crash. Emergency services and an air ambulance attended the scene. Drivers experienced severe delays of around 40 minutes, with average speeds of five mph.

Three teenagers, believed to be aged 16 to 17, attempted to rob a taxi driver in Billingham at around 8.15pm on Thursday, 22 October. One suspect pulled a knife and pressed it against the driver's shoulder while the others shouted at him to hand over his keys and pull over. The driver escaped with his keys and fled along Rochester Road, with the suspects chasing him before giving up. He reached safety at a nearby property where a member of the public called police.

Ryan Jordan James, 30, of Four Crosses, Gaerwen on Anglesey, has been charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis, concerned in the supply of both drugs, possession of amphetamine, money laundering and burglary. He appeared at Llandudno Magistrates' Court on 23 October and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Caernarfon Crown Court on 23 November.

Donald Trump has praised Prime Minister Andy Burnham for the government's approval this week of the Jackdaw gas field in the North Sea. Trump told reporters on Friday that the decision would make the UK 'a very rich country', saying Burnham was 'getting it done'. However, Trump appeared to confuse gas and oil in his comments. Glasgow City Council has approved Blairtummock Housing Association's plans to transform the former Rogerfield Primary School site in Easterhouse into a community greenspace. The site has been empty for over 15 years following the school's closure in 2006. The project will include play areas, picnic benches, a growing space and new planting, with funding secured from the Scottish Government's vacant and derelict land fund.

The iconic blue neon Santa Monica Pier sign, which has welcomed visitors since 1941, has been removed and is being transported to Las Vegas for restoration. Two former soldiers, Alan John Colquhoun and William Donohoe, both from Scotland, were sentenced to 16 years each.
