British experts unveil AI missiles for European air defence
British military firm Helsing has unveiled an AI-powered air defence system with two new interceptor missiles designed to protect European cities from Russian drone and cruise missile attacks.
British military firm Helsing has unveiled the Contra air defence system, featuring two new interceptor missiles called the AD-1 Inferno and AD-2 Ambush, designed to protect European cities from Russian drone and cruise missile attacks. The system uses sophisticated artificial intelligence linked to radars and sensors to detect aerial threats and coordinate interceptions against hundreds or thousands of incoming drones and missiles simultaneously, operating similarly to Israel's Iron Dome system. Both missiles cost less than £100,000 each, significantly cheaper than US-manufactured Patriot missiles which cost over £3 million. The development comes as Russia's production of advanced Geran-4 and Geran-5 jet-powered drones has increased to 4,000 units a month, according to intelligence reports.
