Obama mocks Trump team's response to Cheesecake Factory joke
Former President Barack Obama mocked the Trump administration for mounting a government-wide response to his joke about White House decor.
Former President Barack Obama has mocked Donald Trump's administration for what he described as mobilising a 'whole of government response' to a joke he made comparing the White House renovations to Saddam Hussein opening a Cheesecake Factory restaurant. Obama made the original comparison at a rally in Michigan, which prompted Trump and his officials to defend the White House decor. At a rally in Georgia, Obama escalated his criticism by highlighting that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had appeared in front of cameras at a Cheesecake Factory to respond to the jibe. Obama said the administration was focused on the joke rather than addressing inflation and the cost of living.
